Character
Name: Seiga Kaku
Fandom: Touhou Project
Age: Around 1400 years old, but appears to be somewhere in her twenties or early thirties.
Type: OU
Canon point: Past the events of the Touhou game Double-Dealing Character. She wasn't directly involved in that game, but would be up on current events.
History: Her game profile from Ten Desires, the game in which she figures most prominently, and her article from Symposium of Post-Mysticism, a Touhou databook.
Personality: Seiga is selfish to a truly villainous extent. She does what she wants, and never concerns herself with how it might impact others; all that matters to her is the advancement of her own interests. At best, she's capable of pretending to be a decent person in order to hide her intentions and manipulate people, but her true self tends to start shining through before too long. Even her supposed allies, the faction led by Toyosatomimi no Miko, tend to keep their distance from her, as they're fully aware of what she's really like. (Seiga, for her part, seems somewhat attached to Miko, but her devotion is hardly selfless--she likes to go on about how amazing and world-changing Miko's capabilities are.) Seiga's only truly loyal "comrade" is Yoshika Miyako . . . and Yoshika's a zombie, bound into service by Seiga's Taoist powers.
That being said, Seiga's poor personality doesn't keep her from being friendly, she's just friendly in a pretty awful way. She dotes on Yoshika like a beloved pet, but also has no compunctions against using her as a meat shield--plus, you know, the whole "enslaving someone's corpse" thing. She enjoys being around people and getting to know them, but doesn't hesitate to discard those who she's gotten bored of or who are no longer of use to her. Fortunately, it's easy enough to deflect her if you know what she's up to: if one simply refuses to engage with her, she'll get bored quickly and wander off to find someone else to bother.
For someone who operates on pure self-interest, Seiga isn't particularly greedy for material things--she lived a life of comfort at one point, but threw it away to become a Taoist hermit. Rather, her primary motivations seem to be fame (or infamy), interesting events, and interesting people. Seiga loves to show off her powers, disingenuously claiming that she's doing it to spread belief in Taoism. She also likes to hatch schemes, as seen in her dealings with Miko; Seiga was the one who suggested that Miko use religious strife in order to solidify her power over Japan. Overall, she wants to be in the center of things--not the one who sits on the throne, but the string-puller, the one who stirs things up.
Seiga also has a lazy streak. For all that she loves Taoism and the power it provides her, she's not too interested in furthering her studies, content with the abilities she already has. When she realized that there were many sages with levels of power similar to hers in her native China, her solution wasn't to outdo them, it was to leave for Japan where the competition would be thinner. She also, as mentioned above, relies on Yoshika a lot for her personal protection.
Abilities: Like all Touhous, Seiga can fly. Her primary ability is said to be the power to pass through any wall--the hairpin she wears is a magical item that lets her open holes through them. As a Taoist sage, she's long-lived and physically durable, and capable of raising corpses as jiang shi zombies under her control. Finally, she can wield mystical energies in combat, firing it at her opponents in elaborate shot patterns that are the bread and butter of Touhou fightin'.
